Meet Carrie Colbert
Founder & GP
Transitioning from an energy industry veteran to first-time fund manager was a difficult and fulfilling journey. I’ve learned quickly about the complexities of fund management that go deeper than finding, evaluating and investing in early stage companies. As an outsider, the learning curve was steep in certain areas but also allowed me to think about venture investing differently.
In the next chapter of Curate Capital, we are aiming to fully realize my vision for Influential Investing.
I'm thrilled to be leading the charge for female entrepreneurship from my base in Houston, Texas - an area that is often left out of the venture capital ecosystem conversation. In many ways, this continues to align with female founders who are similarly not given a seat at the table. Our first fund at Curate Capital has performed exceptionally well, with six portfolio companies raising at least one additional round of funding. This success has not only positioned us strongly in the consumer products sector but has also fueled my ambition to make an even greater impact with our second fund.
As we raise a much larger second fund, my focus is on scaling Curate Capital's operations to new heights. I'm refining our operational strategies to support our entrepreneurs, and building a larger, high-caliber team to support our growth. By hiring top talent and creating more rigorous diligence frameworks, we’re ensuring that Curate Capital is well-equipped to identify and invest in the most promising female-founded startups.
Our collective mission with this second fund is to invest in 40+ new female-founded startups, providing them with not just capital but also the mentorship and resources they need to succeed.
Every step we’ve taken in the last five years has led us to this moment. Thank you for being along for the journey, and trusting us to be diligent stewards of your investments. It is a responsibility that we do not take lightly, and we’re more equipped than ever to bring our shared dreams to reality.
